- Two senior Directors of Mondi's sheet plant division wanted to
control their own destiny and acquire their own sheet plant
business
- They had aspirations of creating a Group with £30m turnover and
£1.5m EBIT within two years
- They identified their first acquisition target and approached
Ford Campbell
- Ford Campbell helped negotiate the deal with the Vendor and
raise £1.1m of finance to fund the deal
- Boxes and Packaging was created as the platform to purchase two
further independent sheet plants, and eight sheet plants from Mondi
in deals totalling £9m in value
- We assisted in the negotiations and fund raising for these
transactions
- The two Owners have exceeded their original business plan
significantly and their Group now boasts turnover and EBIT of £100m
and £5m respectively

- Carrwood Barker is an independent financial advisor whose owner
managers were looking to grow by acquisition
- Ford Campbell helped identify a number of acquisitions,
negotiate deals on their behalf and raise funding to complete the
deals
- By far the most complex of the transactions was the acquisition
of Moorgate House, which was twice the size of Carrwood and loss
making
- The presentation of the future strategy and benefits of the
acquisition by Ford Campbell to the bank was vital and ultimately
resulted in the successful completion of the acquisition

Tranfield
Background

- In 2003 Ford Campbell advised on the original MBO of Tranfield
(the UK's largest manufacturer of sausages) from Greencore plc
- Ford Campbell were then retained as corporate finance advisors
and were specifically mandated to source strategic acquisitions for
Tranfield Our brief included searching for complementary businesses
to facilitate product diversification and to make the Business
large enough to be attractive to multinational consolidators
- We structured, led and arranged four acquisitions over the next
three years which helped the business grow from £25m turnover at
the time of the MBO to c.£100m
- The acquisitions were principally of underperforming
businesses. Our expertise in structuring and negotiating deals with
vendors/insolvency practitioners and in arranging the acquisition
finance and subsequent working capital proved invaluable for the
client
