MERSEYSIDE-based waste management company OSS Group has expanded
its regional footprint with the acquisition of a smaller
rival.
The Knowsley-based group, has swooped for Nottingham based Hall
and Campey, a business with 20 staff and turnover of £2.4m.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
OSS Group has annual sales of around £25m and specialises in
collecting and recycling hazardous garage and workshop waste,
particularly waste mineral oils, which it recycles into a Processed
Fuel Oil product called Gen3.
Hall and Campey was founded in 1977 and is an established waste
oil collection business primarily operating in the Midlands and
East Anglia, also specialising in garage waste, secure materials
destruction and plastic recycling with two depots in
Nottingham.
Iain Lees, acting managing director of OSS said: "Adding the
regional strength of Hall and Campey to our existing national
service creates a much stronger organisation in terms of total UK
coverage. It operates similar services to OSS and will
continue very much as now but with the benefit of the OSS
infrastructure and additional customer services."
All Hall and Campey's staff, apart from co-founder Paul Campey,
who is retiring, will be retained by OSS at the two sites in
Nottingham.
The plastics recycling and secure materials destruction operated by
Hall and Campey will be developed by OSS with the intention of
extending these as products available nationally.
Hall and Campey was advised by Manchester-based Ford
Campbell Corporate Finance.
Tim Marlow at Ford Campbell led the deal and said: "The deal sees
the end to an exit program where the company has changed
significantly and provides OSS with the platform to further
strengthen its market position in a fast paced and ever evolving
industry."
